As the gospel account of John nears it’s end, we have a scene that must have struck a sense of remembrance of the apostles. In Luke 5, we have a similar event at the beginning of the relationship with Jesus where the Peter, John, Andrew, and James are fishing, catching nothing, and after Jesus has them again cast their nets, they almost sink their boat with fish! Here in John 21, we have a similar scene at the end of Jesus’ time on earth. At other times after the resurrection, they had questioned whether it was Jesus. Not this time! In this sermon, brother Kirk uses these verses and 2 Peter 1 to reflect on the value of remembrance of knowledge of God and His Son.
